Conferences
Parliament will be back next Monday for two weeks before breaking off for the second half of the recess to facilitate the Party conferences. Last year’s Lib/Dem and Conservative conferences were held in a triumphant atmosphere following the General Election. It was all about their political marriage of coalition. Their future together was bright; there were vows exchanged and promises made for their long life together. The Dave and Nick love-in, in the Downing Street Rose garden (June 2010) seem light years away compared to the reality of today with the bitching and in-fighting at the heart of Government. This year’s round of conferences will tell a different story than last.
Recess
I’ve had a busman’s holiday during recess this year at home with family. Had great fun being taxi driver to my grandson who holidayed with us for a spell and I also managed to visit some constituency groups and individuals doing great work for our communities. I have been asked to chair meetings organised by STV Local who are rolling out their broadcasting services with websites across Scotland. I will be writing to organisations soon with further information on STV Local.
