Jim Hood MP for Lanark & Hamilton joined the campaign during the Fairtrade Fortnight for the FAIRTRADE mark to be used on more and more products and for consumers to support the campaign by buying items with the FAIRTRADE mark.
Welcoming the Fairtrade Fortnight campaign, Mr. Hood said :
“Many shoppers in Lanark & Hamilton East are helping to ensure that farmers, workers and their families get a better deal by buying FAIRTRADE approved goods. The Fairtrade label is a guarantee that disadvantaged producers are not exploited. More than 7.5 million people – farmers, workers and their families, across 59 developing countries benefit from the international fairtrade system.”
Mr. Hood met DFID Secretary, Douglas Alexander to give a message of support from constituents of Lanark & Hamilton East, to MAKE IT HAPPEN, CHOOSE FAIRTRADE.
