Jim Hood, MP for Lanark and Hamilton East, has congratulated the Carnwath Community Council on their successful bid for a 2014 Communities grant of £1,000 to fund basketball stands, tennis nets, posts and court lines in order to improve sporting facilities in Carnwath.
Speaking from his constituency office Mr. Hood said:
“I was delighted to learn that Carnwath Community Council has taken advantage of the Big Lottery Fund 2014 Communities Programme. This is the first programme in Scotland to make funding available for community groups and organisations, to build a legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
“It is good news that Carnwath is to benefit from the Programme for more people to take part in sport or physical activity and to promote well-being in the town before and beyond the Commonwealth Games.”
