Bankers
What should the Chancellor of the Exchequer do in his Pre-Budget Report to answer the threat of the Bankers who say they will not work for a British Bank that doesn’t allow them to get back to their old ways of paying themselves multi million pound bonuses? “Pay up or we will resign and go to Dubai” they say, or as reported of the Board of RBS, “We will all resign from the Board if we can’t pay ourselves the bonuses we need to keep us in the lifestyle we were accustomed to before the bail out by UK taxpayers”.
At the risk of upsetting Conservative leader David Cameron and his fellow Etonian, the Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne with my politics of “envy” I have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer advising him to politely tell these bankers to, “go to Dubai”.
St Mary’s
St Mary’s Church in Lanark has always had a special place in my life. It was where I was selected as a prospective parliamentary candidate on 3 November 1985, following the retirement of my predecessor Dame Judith Hart. So accepting the church’s kind invitation to their pensioners’ Christmas party last Sunday allowed my wife Marion, and I, to enjoy three fantastic hours of quality fun and enjoyment with Father Joseph and the church’s youthful senior citizens of St Mary’s.
