Conferences

The next two weeks will be compulsive viewing for the political anoraks with the two main Party conferences kicking off with Labour in Brighton this weekend, followed with the Cameron road show in Manchester

If you blinked this week you will have missed the Lib/Dems love-in in Bournemouth. Their leader  Nick Clegg’s desire to out Tory the Tories with cuts in Child benefit, Working Family Tax Credits and the abolition of Children’s Trusts was their big moment, with their Shadow Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable desperate to out do Cameron’s Tories with National Health Service cuts.

By comparison the TUC conference in Liverpool was a triumphant fest that at least had debates on issues that had relevance to the economy, working people and their unions.

 NHS

Politicians are never slow at wading in pontificating about the NHS, and I’ve done my fair share of that. But nothing informs you more than when you are at the consumer end of the NHS as I was last week.

I was admitted to Hairmyers Cardiac Catherisation day centre for a heart procedure i.e. Cardiac Catherisation (x-ray of heart) which resulted with me having an angioplasty (stent), that required an overnight stay in Hospital. From Wishaw cardiology out-patients to my referral to the Cardiac Catherisation Department at Hairmyers, my treatment was first class and thanks to all concerned. I am now off the road for the next fortnight or so under doctors orders. Apologies for appointments cancelled. I’ll catch up ASAP.
