WARD 5 - Avondale and Stonehouse

Only a very small part of the Avondale and Stonehouse Ward lies within the Lanark & Hamilton East constituency boundary with  a few streets in the North East area of Stonehouse adjacent to the boundary of the Larkhall Ward. Stonehouse is located on Avon Water in an area of natural beauty and historical interest, near to the Clyde Valley. It has regular and convenient bus transportation to the nearby towns of Larkhall, Hamilton, East Kilbride and Strathaven, and is situated close to the M74 motorway, with a junction at Canderside Toll (approx. 1 mile from the village), which provides an easy link to the rest of UK.
